So, you’ve ordered a Planmeca ProX—or you’re about to accept delivery of one. This is your installation verification checklist.

Step 6: Run the Test Image and Verify Image Quality

  • Create a folder—digital or paper—with the installation manual, test images, and service contract.
  • Add a six-month reminder to re-check collimator alignment and arm tightness.

If you are a small practice, this documentation might seem like overkill. But the moment you have a problem, you’ll be thankful it exists.

Common Mistakes I See in Quality Inspections

Three patterns keep showing up:

  • Treating “new” as “perfect.” It’s tempting to think a brand-new device must be flawless. But shipping damage and factory defects exist. Your checks are what catch them.
  • Skipping the safety verification to save money. The assumption is that an expensive device includes safe installation. The reality is that installation quality varies by dealer and technician. You are the final safeguard.
  • Accepting small-order negligence. I’ve seen large corporate accounts get 24/7 support while a solo dentist gets a “we’ll get to you next week.” That’s backwards. If a supplier doesn’t treat your small order seriously from day one, they won’t treat you any better later.
